PVCu Panel Doors

  • PVCu panel doors are one of the most popular products we offer at St. Ives Windows. They’re cost-effective, while also looking neat and stylish and providing excellent security and energy efficiency. Our aim is to provide the best PVCu doors around, which is why we put them through lots of testing to ensure the highest quality.

PVCu panel doors are made in our UK factory with virgin grade material, so they won’t discolour over time. One of the best things about PVCu doors is that they need hardly any maintenance. We also offer lots of styles, colours and finishes, so you can achieve the look you want.

PVCu doors offer excellent security for your peace of mind. We also fit them with a multi-point locking system to deter intruders and keep your home protected.

Fitting PVCu panel doors can also help improve energy efficiency in your home. We use quality, insulative glass and build the door frame with multiple chambers, to reduce heat loss and protect your home from glass. These doors also offer excellent noise reduction, so when you close your door, you block out much of the sound from the outside world.

Is PVCu better than wood for doors?

PVCu doors are one of the most inexpensive options on the market, because they tend to be much easier to produce than other options. If you want wooden doors made, these take a lot of craftsmanship, which is reflected in the price.

PVCu doors are secure, especially when fitted with a good lock, and they need little maintenance. Just a quick clean is enough to keep them looking good. Wooden doors are also very secure, and offer the same insulative properties of PVCu, although they require a lot more maintenance like sanding and repainting to stay looking good.

How long can uPVC doors last?

PVCu doors are made from a type of plastic that has been designed to last for many years without degrading. Well-made PVCu doors can last 30-40 years, without needing much maintenance.

You can make the most out of your door’s lifespan by keeping it well-maintained. Oil the hinges, and check the lock and handle are working smoothly. You shouldn’t need to clean them very often, and some warm, soapy water will usually do the trick. If your doors are particularly dirty, then you can buy specialist uPVC cleaner to remove difficult stains.

Can uPVC door seals be replaced?

uPVC doors have a seal around the edge which helps weatherproof your doors and protect your home from draughts. Occasionally, the rubber strips can come away from the door, or can fall off completely, and it’s best to replace them once it gets to this stage.

It’s very easy to replace a uPVC door seal. You can order replacements online, and these parts come with instructions on how to fit them to your door. Once installed, simply open and close your door a few times to check it’s in place and doesn’t affect operation of the door or let in draughts.

Are uPVC doors safe?

uPVC by its nature is designed to be inflexible. It’s a type of PVC that has been made by combining vinyl polymer and chlorine, which when combined, makes a strong, energy efficient, and practical material.

Like all the materials we use, uPVC has been through rigorous testing to make sure it’s safe to use in buildings. It meets regulations for building materials. The only time you need to be cautious is when it comes to disposing of your door – make sure it’s recycled and not burned.

How much does a new uPVC door cost?

The cost of installing a uPVC door depends on the style you choose, whether you have glazing, and whether you’re going for something simple or a more complex design like a stable door

The size of your door is also a factor. Some larger spaces need side panels, which adds to the price. It also depends on whether you have a standard size door or need something unique made for the space. For example, if you need a door that’s over the standard height of 6f6, this will cost more.

Do uPVC doors come with a guarantee?

Choose St. Ives Windows to create your uPVC doors and you’ll get a 10-year guarantee for your door. However, they should last much longer if properly maintained. Our uPVC door guarantee assures you that during this period, your doors will provide excellent security and energy efficiency.

While uPVC doors can last for decades, some of them may have a slightly shorter lifespan. For example, those with a woodgrain finish tend to be slightly less weather resistant. However, we’ll give you all the information you need on our doors and guarantees before you choose.
