Heritage Windows

  • Living in a period property or conservation area doesn’t mean you have to put up with draughty, rattly windows. At St. Ives Windows, we have a beautiful range of heritage windows that have been designed for older homes, including aluminium windows and doors and uPVC windows in woodgrain finishes.

Our heritage windows ensure you get high-performance double glazing, while still having windows that suit the character of your property. We can provide you with high quality windows that meet restrictions in Cornwall’s conservation areas and are suitable for listed buildings.

You have lots of style choices when it comes to heritage windows. St. Ives Windows can help you find windows that closely match the existing ones in your home, for example, sash windows that are uPVC, but have been made in a woodgrain finish. These look exactly like real timber windows but require much less maintenance.

Aluminium windows are a great replacement for steel windows

If you live in an older property with steel windows, then the modern equivalent is aluminium windows. They have a thermal break, which allows them to offer maximum insulation.

Not sure which windows will fit in with your period property? Visit the St. Ives Windows showroom or speak to one of our experts today. They can help you find a style that you love, while still being compliant with local restrictions.

What is a Heritage window?

Heritage windows are windows that are designed to replace older windows in listed or period properties. In listed properties, it’s a requirement that when you install new windows, they match the style of the old ones and are in-keeping with the property, so the character of the home isn’t lost. Not only do our heritage windows look the part, they also have modern features to provide insulation and noise reduction.

What are timber alternative windows?

Timber alternative windows have been designed with all the advantages of uPVC, but with the character and charm of wooden windows. Timber windows need a lot of maintenance, including sanding and painting, and they aren’t great at insulating your home. Choosing uPVC windows in a woodgrain finish means you can enjoy the advantages of double glazing – from noise reduction to insulation and enhanced security – while you still get the great look of timber, and they are almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

What is a flush window?

A flush window sits flush against the wall, inside of protruding from the outside. While windows that protrude are fine for modern homes, many listed or period homes need flush windows that sit inside the frame. Our flush casement windows are one of the most popular styles, and we can also offer styles like sash windows which are popular in older homes. You can also customise these windows in woodgrain and many different colours.

Is it more expensive to get flush windows?

Flush windows come at a slightly higher cost as they’re more complicated to manufacture, as they need precise engineering to ensure they fit perfectly into the space. This will ensure they fit perfectly flush against the walls of your home. While living in a protected area might mean you are limited to flush windows, St. Ives Windows can give you lots of style options and ensure you still get the benefits of modern window technology.

Features and benefits

Guarantees you can depend on.

We have built up a great reputation over years of delivering a first class service and excellent products, all from our local, no nonsense all-about-you company.

From characteristic country cottages to contemporary town houses, we’re confident that our products will offer a style and finish to truly transform your project. Through constant innovation the quality, durability and security of our products is genuinely second to none. As a local company we are proud to offer British Standards BS7412/PAS24 for enhanced security.

We refuse to compromise on quality

Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee.  We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.

State of the art fabrication for best quality

We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK.  This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality.  Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.

Superior energy efficiency

Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.

Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our projects energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your project warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.

Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.

These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.
