Edwardian/Georgian Conservatories

  • Edwardian conservatories, sometimes known as Georgian conservatories, are one of our most popular styles. With a practical square shape, they offer excellent value for money and a comfortable living space.

Edwardian conservatories are ideal for those who like a minimalistic approach to design. They have a simple square shape and clean lines, making them ideal for modern or period homes.

The Edwardian conservatory is a more modern version of our popular Victorian conservatories. They have a vaulted roof which gives them a more spacious feel, and have a light, open design that make them ideal for creating a bright and airy living space.

While Edwardian conservatories may have a traditional look, we build them with modern methods and the latest technology. This ensures year-round comfort and energy efficiency, as well as excellent security and much more. At St. Ives Windows, we manufacture our own conservatories so you can be sure of their impeccable quality.

  • This conservatory style features a flat front and a square or rectangular symmetrical shape. This makes the Edwardian and Georgian conservatory style a really handy shape for laying out furniture and plants, with no wasted space. The Georgian conservatory typically has a high, sloping roof style that gives a spectacular vaulted effect. Your conservatory floods with light, making it a bright, airy and uplifting room.

What is an Edwardian conservatory?

An Edwardian – or Georgian – conservatory strikes a balance between modern and classic conservatory styles. These conservatories usually have a square or rectangular floorplan, a flat front and a high-pitched roof that allows for a vaulted ceiling inside. This creates a light, open space that can be used for many purposes. If you’d like to find out more about our Edwardian conservatories, contact St. Ives Windows today.

Is a Victorian conservatory different to an Edwardian conservatory?

A Victorian conservatory has a lot of similarities to an Edwardian conservatory. With an ornate design and pitched roof, they tend to both be suitable for period homes or to add a decorative touch to modern houses. It’s the shape of the conservatories that makes them different. Victorian conservatories have a bay front, shaped a bit like a bay window, with three to five sides, which gives it a curved appearance. Edwardian conservatories are usually square or rectangular. Some people prefer the rounded style of a Victorian conservatory, while others prefer the more practical shape of Edwardian conservatories.

Can Edwardian conservatories be fitted with decorative glass?

St. Ives Windows offer all sorts of decorative glass, which can be made to your specifications in our factory. This includes textured, coloured and leaded glass. In our brochure, you’ll find information on the different types of glass available and how this could potentially be used in your conservatory. There can be practical reasons to use this kind of glass, for example, textured glass can give you privacy, or you can simply finish off your conservatory with a bespoke design. Get in touch to find out about the types of decorative glass we can create.

Are Edwardian conservatories practical?

If you want a style that’s practical, then Edwardian conservatories are often the best choice due to their square or rectangular shapes. This means it’s easy to find furniture that fits into the space, and you can easily create a practical layout. Edwardian conservatories also have pitched roofs, which means inside, they have high ceilings, and on the outside, debris or fallen leaves fall off, so not much maintenance or cleaning is needed. Your conservatory will also be built to be energy efficient and comfortable for year-round use. Get in touch to find out more about Edwardian conservatories.
