Upgrade Your Conservatory
If you have a conservatory that’s cold in the winter and too hot in the summer, you may be able to upgrade your conservatory rather than completely replacing it.
At St. Ives Windows, we can offer you a number of conservatory upgrades to make your room usable year-round. You can replace old double glazing, perhaps even upgrading to triple glazing, add a tiled roof for better energy efficiency or replace an old door to block out more draughts.
We can also make an old conservatory look new again, with lots of practical solutions to ensure you fall in love with the space again. For example, we can add a tinted film that reduces the glare of direct sunlight or install new lighting round the edges of your conservatory for a cosy feel in the evening.

Upgrade your existing conservatory with a range of modern and traditional styles and colours – newly built or using your existing foundations and walls. Consider installing new performance glass panels that are better insulated and will boost your project’s energy efficiency. You could also choose a solid tiled roof to your conservatory’s pre-existing frame. Even making small tweaks can have a big impact – like adding new bi-folding doors out to your garden.

How can I upgrade my conservatory?
St. Ives Windows offers a number of ways to upgrade your conservatory. Firstly, you should think about what you want to improve. Is it a matter of improving energy efficiency or making it more comfortable year-round, or are your issues cosmetic? We can offer suggestions for a number of issues, from cold spots and draughts to furniture damage from UV rays. Simply get in touch with St. Ives Windows and we can advise on the best course of action.
Can a conservatory be upgraded to improve insulation?
If your conservatory suffers heat loss or gets too hot in summer, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need a whole new structure. Older polycarbonate roofs can often be the cause of poor insulation, so a new double glazed or lantern roof can make a big difference. Some older conservatories were built with single glazing, and simply adding double or triple glazing can make a huge difference and make your conservatory into a more liveable space, even during extreme weather.
When will I need to upgrade my conservatory?
Many homes across the UK have conservatories that simply don’t live up to modern insulation standards. Whether you have an old aluminium, PVCu or timber conservatory, if you don’t find it comfortable to sit inside the structure, then it’s probably time to look at upgrades. While very old conservatories will usually need replacing, your current structure may be salvageable with better windows and a new roof. Why not get in touch and see what we can do for you?
Can a conservatory be upgraded to match my home?
Some older conservatories simply don’t blend in with the attached property. However, there have been many advances in conservatory technology over the years, so it may be possible to upgrade the current structure and make it more in-keeping with the style of your home. For example, we can add a finish to PVCu that makes a white conservatory look more like timber, or we can upgrade an old glass roof to a tiled one. We can also add features like a dwarf wall or pillars that match your home, so it looks like your conservatory was built in the same era as your home.
