Are composite doors a good choice?

Composite doors are an excellent choice for all sorts of homes, offering enhanced security and excellent energy efficiency.

Our composite doors are made from a material that’s formed in high heat and pressure, making them exceptionally strong. This means they can stand up to all sorts of weather, from heavy rain and wind to freezing cold days. This is perfect for long British winters. They are also extremely strong, so harder to break into than other options. Composite doors are also more energy-efficient than options such as uPVC doors, so you can save on your energy bills. These doors have lots of different style options, from woodgrain textures to bright colours.

Is a composite door cheaper than uPVC?

uPVC doors are usually the most inexpensive option for a front door. They have a simple production process, so they are a good option if you’re on a budget. While composite doors cost more, as they are more complex to manufacture, they do last longer, so can be a better investment in the long term.

Composite doors also offer better energy efficiency than uPVC. This means you can save money on your energy bills. Not only do we ensure your doors fit your home perfectly, we add brushes to the bottom of these doors, so that cold air doesn’t get inside your home and warm air doesn’t escape.

What material should I choose for my front door?

There are a number of options that you can choose for your front door.

  • Timber doors – these come in lots of beautiful finishes and styles. Unfortunately, they don’t stand up to the British weather very well, so can need sanding and repainting quite often
  • Composite doors – these are made from a mixture of materials, which makes them stronger and long lasting. Composite doors offer excellent security and can help insulate your home
  • uPVC doors – uPVC doors are cost-effective and secure. There are also a wide variety of options to personalise them.

How long do composite doors last?

Composite doors are made of a material that is designed to stand up to harsh weather conditions, from heatwaves to freezing cold, which makes them ideal for the changeable British weather. This means that over time, your doors won’t warp or get discoloured, and they’ll look as good as ever.

Composite doors also have a timber core, so they can potentially last decades without much maintenance. They are likely to last between 30-40 years, but you can extend this lifespan with some simple maintenance like oiling the hinges and giving your doors a wipe with a damp cloth, so the material doesn’t get worn down.

What is a composite door mean?

A composite door gets its name from the materials used to make the door. Because more than one material is used in manufacture, they’re much more durable and last longer.

The core of the door is then made from a mixture of materials such as insulative foam and uPVC, while any windowpanes are reinforced for extra security. We also add features such as top of the line locks and rust-resistant hinges to ensure safety and peace of mind.

How do I choose a front door?

Think about what factors are most important to you. Most people find wooden doors the most attractive option, with a classic, traditional look, while composite doors have the advantage of endless design options and styles such as woodgrain finishes.

When you’re working out your budget, don’t just think about the cost of the doors, but rather how much wear you’ll get out of them and how much they could save you. Energy efficient composite doors cost more, but can cut your utility bills, and they’re designed to last decades so you get the most for your money.
